Tonight was my first night without social obligations for what feels like years. So, I put on "Rome", whipped out my British Museum cookbook, and made myself a Roman dinner. Thus motivated, I finally finished the gallery describing my trip to Pompei. It can be found here.
I know that holiday snaps are not the most fascinating of genres, and also that there is plenty going on in fandom to keep people occupied, but to those who go to the gallery I can promise ancient het porn, ancient slash romance, and some flying penises that would make the cutest pets.
And incidentally, I know I made it myself so I should not praise it, but my Roman dinner was both bizarre and delicious. I especially liked the cabbage-wheat-pinenut-and-raisin... thing. But I guess similar results could be achieved with modern food, just by cooking with wine and dumping lots of coriander everywhere.
